my friend is getting married in september and put me in charge of making the wedding invitations. its not a big wedding, just close friends and family, and the party is gonna be held in her back yard, i mean everything is low key, nothing too fancy, but i want to make the invites look classy/professional/unique,,etc... but im not a pro and was planning on just using microsoft publisher as a last resort. any ideas on what to do with microsoft publisher or any other unique ideas i can do with a computer?

  1. go to wilton.com and look at ideas.  There were really cute ones with just the wording and ribbons or appliques on them.  Wish I had found them before i done mine.

Our initiations include about 6 pic of us scattered around.  Just snapshots with with wording around and in between.  Good Luck

  2. go to xpedex. They have a wedding aisle with some BEAUTIFUL invites.  That's where I found mine (I'm a september wedding too and just mailed mine yesterday) and I absolutely LOVE them. My dad has a printer that can print photos so it has a slot specially designed for smaller paper and we just printed all of them at home (it would have cost us $120 and taken 5 days if we had someone else do it. This way it was $20 and we had them in a matter of hours).

I would suggest buying invitations if your printer can handle small-sized paper, or else doing something in publisher or word and printing it on cardstock paper that has a design (such a sponge-painted look or faux ebossing.). Microsoft greetings workshop even has some temples, and I'm pretty sure you could find some more on microsoft word's online template center that you can download into your microsoft program.

  3. Michael's also has beautiful invitations in packs at their stores. The other websites mentioned above are also great.

  4. I've just made all my own and they are gorgeous. I started with the colour theme. My colours are black and champagne so I bought some black paper and some parchment paper that is champagne in colour. I printed my invites onto the parchment using microsoft word. Then I took them and cut them to size on the guillotine, and then backed them onto the black paper by punching 2 holes in the top and tying them together with some champagne ribbon. Thats it. Simple and easy. A little fiddley and a little time consuming but certainly not hard or expensive. Hope this helps, good luck and have fun!

  5. just send emails cheeper
