Help! [parakeets]?

i have one parakeet.

and it's a female.

im getting a boy in a week or two.

what can i do to make them WANT to breed/mate?

you need to put a nesting box in there. they wont mate unless they have somewhere safe to lay their eggs.

make sure they have a nutritional diet. we give our birds regular seed, molting seed, fruit seed snacks, and a cuttlebone.

before they'll breed, they have to get used to each other, this could take several months.

Well that's not an easy one, you get a nestbox which is where they will lay there eggs. But the hard part is getting them to mate. In that way they are like humans they won't unless they feel like it. But you might be able to make them if you get a nest box.

....how old is the girl parakeet?  How long have you had the bird?  If the bird is bonded to you - it is not likely that she is going to cozy up to the boy bird.  Also - just because you have a boy/girl pair.....they can be particular about mating/not mating.
