  1. depend how old and maybe just chill and take a tan, or something..

  2. I think you should just try a tampon.Never know you may like them.

  3. I know how you feel!

Just tell them you don't want to go swimming. No one can force you to go swimming! Just lay in the sun and tan or something.

I've been in that situation before. When I'm on my period, I just tell them I don't feel like going, or that I have a stomach ache. They will be fine with it. It's not like they will hate you or not like you anymore---it's just swimming anyway. And besides, most people don't bleed much or even at all in water.

  4. They say that the period flow stops when the body is in water, I'm not sure if it is a myth or not, but most people I know (myself included) believe in that notion, because it happens to us. You don't have to force yourself into the water unless you want to take a risk. But hey, you would be able to catch up on new news with friends who are not swimming too. Maybe you could also help with the preparation and serving of food. Wear something nice and comfy to help you move around well. Good luck. =)

  5. I know how you feel; I can't stand tampons. Ugh.

Just play truth or dare or 20 questions or something lol

And talk with the other people

  6. seriously just use a tampon it doesn't hurt and you;ll forget your even wearing one cause its soooo much more comfortable then a pad. trust me try itt

  7. well tampons are hard the first time, just bleed in your swimsuit and rinse it out later, trust me your mom WILL understand

  8. Tampons really aren't that bad. Try using a slender one or a teen one or whatever they have goin on nowadays. But if you really dont feel comfortable doing that, then avoid swimming, find other things to do. Like tan or chill out talking or something of the sort.

  9. People are going to tell you to stop being a baby and use a tampon.

But I understand how you feel.  They just aren't the right thing for some people.

If you are set on swimming, I recommend Divacup, www.divacup.com/, a menstrual cup that collects your blood.  Its not all up inside like a tampon, but you can do everything you could do as if you were wearing one. You can go up to 12 hours without changing it.

But, you could use the age old excuse of that you have an ear infection, or you can just tell everyone you are on your period, bloated, and dont want to wear a swimsuit.

I reccomend saying that you went straight there from somewhere else, and didn't have time to get your swimsuit.

Thats what I did today.  I was going to the beach this afternoon, and when I got there and everyone was asking me where my swimsuit was, I said that I came straight from work.

    Ta-da, problem solved!

Oh, and a little about the girl 2 answers down saying your period stops in water...

Its like having a cup upside down and pushing it into water, it has the air trapped right there, you know?  Well, it does temporarily "hold" your period there, but if you go at different angles, it will slip out, and regardless of what angle you are at, if you are in the pool, it will eventually gush, causing you embarrassment.  Some womens bodies like to push it out anyways though, so the water doesn't always stop it.
