  1. I think that if you are going through withdrawals it is time to go back to your doc and say that you are addicted to pain killers and need help getting off of them.  If you can't get through 1 day without, then you need help.

  2. I agree with one of the previous answers.  If you cannot get through a single day without Vicodin (you only mention withdrawls, not pain management) you need to seek help for opiate addiction immediately.

  3. Vicodin doesn't come with refills.  If you need more, you need to go back to your doctor.

  4. Take some Tylenol.  I have been on Vicodin for over 4 years now.  I only take it when in serious pain not everyday.  BUT when I stop cold turkey I get withdrawal symptoms and Tylenol helps...then I have to wean myself off it, lol.  Don't overdose but take enough to calm the phantom pains and aches.  Good luck I know what you are going through.  May you be blessed and find a way off the meds =)

  5. Doctors and insurance companies catch on really fast to abusers.  I worked as a pharmacy tech for a few years.  Some insurance companies will stop paying for pain pills if they think you are abusing or limit the amount you can get.  They will also only pay for you to see one doctor if you are going around from doctor to doctor to get pain pills.

The pharmacy does not care and there is nothing you can do.  Pharmacies only fill what doctors give prescriptions for.  They are only the keepers of the pills and cannot give them out without a valid prescription.  It is all up to the prescribing doctor.

I knew a guy in his early 20s who was addicted to Vicodin.  He ended up very sick and on dialysis.  The acetaminophen in Vicodin will mess you up and can cause serious organ damage.  It's only 5 mg of hydrocodone (what makes you feel good) and 500 mg of acetaminophin.

It's best to just give up the habit.  You will feel sick for a few days, but your body will be much better off.

BTW, to the guy who posted first:  Vicodin is a CIV drug and it can be refilled.  Only CII drugs such as Oxycontin, Oxycodone and Ritalin cannot have refills.

  6. How was your script written? 1-2 q 4-6 hr prn is how we write for acute pain or post surgical. It could be your insurance company or it could be you over-used them depending on how the script was written. You don't say why you are taking them. If this is long term you should have been switched over to the one without acetaminophen, and if you are going through with-drawls you are most likely addicted. Ask your doctor to refer you to a pain management specialist. In the meantime try an OTC pain medication.

  7. panadol and a little booze,

  8. Try to sleep and pass the day away.

  9. Call the doctor and ask them to order a refill - or just suffer through - this is uncomfortable but won't kill you.

  10. You need to call your doctors office and discuss the issue with them!

Vicodin isn't allowed to have refills, so you would have to get a script from the docs office or they can call it into the pharmacy.

  11. Vicodin is able to have refills.  I have had this problem before, mine was due to the way the doctor wrote the script, it was written for 30 days but could not be refilled until the exact number date as the original prescription , which ended up being 32 days.

Another option is whether or not your insurance is allowing it to be filled, sometimes they will not allow a refill until so many days after the original Rx was filled.  They do this to deter misuse or abuse of the medication.

Did you ask them when you can get it refilled?  You can transfer it to another pharmacy and see if they tell the new pharmacy exactly why they can't refill it.

Try taking some ibuprofen for the headache & Imodium AD for the stomach issues you may be having with the withdrawls and I hope you feel better.

  12. You're telling us that a doctor told you that you could take EIGHT a day?  Vicodin contains Acetaminophen. The maximum amount of acetaminophen for adults is 1 gram (1000 mg) per dose and 4 grams (4000 mg) per day. One Vicodin tablet may contain up to 750 mg of acetaminophen. Know the amount of acetaminophen in the specific product you are taking. You're telling us a physician told you to take up to EIGHT per day? Your pain has not decreased in that time? The reason your pharmacy won't refill is because your are saying you've gone through 40 in less than a week. Your insurance company would never agree to put that through without your doctors approval.  They probably think you're selling it.  If you need it that badly, call your physician and tell them you've taken all of your medication.
