I have 400 to 500 bucks to spend on a new receiver, i have a PS3,Xbox360,comcastHD box (all HDMI hook ups) and a wii.I run 6 Polk speakers and a Bose center with a powered 10"sub. I have a 42"Vizio with 2 HDMI slots. What i want is a receiver with 2-3 HDMI slots, good crisp sound and deep bass. Multi room would be nice. i was thinking of of the following, but if u have a better idea let me know.

  1. Go to your local HT shop and tell them what you want. Warranty isnt always covered over internet sights. Have them set it up and go demo it with music and movies. Make sure the remote is easy for you to understand. With your price range you will find what you want. All receivers sound different. Good luck.

  2. Chefdaddy911, follow this link to Crutchfield:

If that didn't fit, just go to their website, crutchfield.com and go to home audio, receivers.  I narrowed the search to $310 to $500 price range.  Any of those receivers will work - Denon, Onkyo, Yamaha, Sony.  Per your preference, I found that the Onkyo TX-SR605 will meet all your needs and then some. It will decode the new surround formats from blu ray if you have that.  Or it will be there should you buy a blu ray player in the future.  It has HDMI switching (2in, 1 out), so you could run one with component.  Most have just 2 in, 1 out.  It has dual zone/dual source.  Good luck.

  3. This is a toughy. For the most part you can get all the things you want for a little more. Here are the features you may want to select from.

    1 - 3 HDMI inputs.

2- HDMI upconversion (So it can convert the analog connection from the Wii or anything else you want to add and go out through the HDMI. It makes selecting your source easier)

3 - Dolby TrueHD and dts-HD. These new surround formats may become important to you later even though you won't get it now because the PS3 can't access that part of the Blu-Ray soundtrack.

4 - Multiple Zone. Same audio sources available in another room.

The Sony STRDG930 for $499 is comming out that has everything but the dual zone and the Yamaha RXV663 for $549 has everything except for HDMI upconversion. You have to go the the Yamaha RXV883 for $999 to get all of the above.
