Help planning a route through eastern Europe?

Question

Me and two friends are flying into Transylvania in Romania and out of Sofia in Bulgaria. We are thinking of going down through romania, then through Bulgaria and into turkey. Then from Turkey across to Greece, and from Greece back up to Sofia. We are planning on doing it cheaply and are taking tents. Could anyone give me any general advise eg where to visit, a good (detailed if poss) route, what the cheapest way to get from Izmir to Athens is, is Izmir worth going to etc. As much advise as possible would be helpful. Izmir is worth it. all of greece and turkey from what I have heard but I cant say much about Bulgaria, Romania. If you are going to those countries I would try to visit the beach resort areas (black sea coast) its probably cheaper and more fun than the capitals.

Get a travel guide on eastern Europe, you will need one anyhow once you are there.

why not check Ohrid, Macedonia, while in the neighborhood?

great night life,

many beaches,

cheap prices,

hospitable people,

many foreign tourists (Dutch, Serbians, Israelis, Chinese among others),

delicious traditional food.

so many cultural and historic sites (365 churches, one for every day of the year, middle age fortress, place where one of the first European universities was established)...

there's also the traditional Gradiste Summer Beach Festival (the best DJs in one place), one of the best in the region and Lenny Kravitz is coming in Ohrid in August...
