Unlike other body cells, neurons cannot reproduce themselves. What might happen if all of the neurons in you hand were destroyed?

  1. You will lose all motor control of your hand, and you will not receive any sensory stimulus from it.


  2. You wouldn't be able to move your hand.  Since no electrical impulse could be transmitted to your muscles, you would have no ability to move your hand or fingers.  You need the electrical impulse from the neurons to cause the myosin/actin contraction of your muscles.  Also, you wouldn't have any feeling in your hand.  Basically, all bad things.
