Okay here's the deal! I run 2 miles a day and I eat pretty healthy. But I've lost a bit of weight and I'm getting happier with my body, but I'm affraid to eat the foods I love in fear of gaining weight. But before I started running I was 161lbs and I stayed at a stable weight while still eating healthy foods mixed with some junk food. So if once in a while i eat junk food and I still run will I stay at the stable weight I am now or will I gain?

  1. I'll never understand why people try to run away from the junk they put in their system. The majority of the questions and answers I read all agree that you can run off anything. Do you know why you're afraid to stop running? That's exactly right, you'll gain weight by eating junk. The reason being, you don't know how to balance your daily intake. Of course the junk will show up. Usually in 3 to 5 days. You should make it easy on yourself and do some research. Stop trying to get out of doing it the right way. Fourth grade health textbook.

  2. The trick is to try and count the junk food in your daily intake. If your resting metabolism is around 1500. You should be able to eat that and add 500 calories of junk food a day with gaining any weight. Oh and you should try and run 30 minutes a day.

  3. eat whatever you want just eat it in moderation... it can be hard with junk food though

  4. Eating junk food in moderation is okay...sometimes. If you are eating healthy all of the time, a little treat here and there isn't going to cause you to gain weight.

If you start eating candy and fatty foods everyday, you will most definitely gain weight though.

  5. I workout and run a lot. and i eat like crazy. even junk food. i don't gain weight at all. and if i do it's muscle not fat bc of all the working out i do. So you should be okay if you keep up with running!

  6. As long as you exercise often, you can afford to have junk food sometimes. It's more how many calories you eat over the entire day or week that will determine weight gain.

  7. Kris, eating one thing will not cause any weight gain. Its the total number of calories you eat day in and day out that affects weight. There is nothing worng with throwing in an a occasional treat. It keeps you sane. After a contest I get some KFC and Cold Stone ice cream.  ;-)

  8. Keeping your diet clean is the primary key but you will need to set aside at least on meal per week that is designated as a cheat meal.  This will allow you to satisfy your your cravings for these foods as well as keep you committed to your nutrition plan.  Be careful about eating junk food intermittently throughout the week though as most of this type of food is very calorie dense but is not nutritionally dense for what your goals are.  Much of the answer to your question will depend on what you are terming junk food and how much you are going to consume.

As long as your are still exercising, and the rest of your diet is clean, you probably won't gain weight, unless your sensitivity to carbs is high.  Have yourself the occasional treat, but remember that the more you offset your nutrition plan with fats and refined sugars "in moderation" the more it will slow down your progress.

    Good luck!!

  9. Kris, I had a personal trainier and I am currently running two miles a day as well. My trainer told me that I am allowed one "cheat day" a week. Basically, thats the day I get to eat whatever I want for that one day only. Eating junk food, fatty foods, sugary foods one hour before or after a work is OK...but not preferred. Your body will burn it up. If I were you...I would dedicated one day to your "cheat day" and....stay with your routine and keep eating healthy the other six days of the week.
