Question:

Help please: Left lymph node in my neck is slightly larger than the other?

I recently had tonsillitis and my left tonsil seemed to suffer more than the right one. There was a white/yellow spot on it, which I popped. I just came off Penicillin about 4 days ago. Is it common for one lymph node to be slightly larger than the other?

I'm 15 and a non-smoker.

  1. Yes, it is. I had chronic tonsillitis and just had my tonsils out. My left tonsil was always bigger than my other (along with the lymph nodes on that side). It is normal for them to be different sizes. Allow the antibiotics to work. If they are still swollen in about a week, I would recommend visiting your doctor again for another round of antibiotics. (I went through 6 rounds of antibiotics before I got my tonsils out.) Good luck and I hope this helps!
