Help please! My cats are ignoring the existence of their cat box!

Question

I have 2 cats, they're about 6 and we've had them about 5 years. They've always had problems with peeing behind the TV when we go on vacation, but lately i don't know whats going on. There's a cat box in the garage (where we put them at night because otherwise they wake us up at 4 AM), and two in their kitty closet. but they suddenly stopped using the one in the closet! and we just found a whole bunch of pee behind the TV again. I don't know what to do.... i don't want to get rid of them... but they're destroying our carpet and we've already replaced it once. Also, they had flees recently (we just got rid of them), and since we put the flee junk on their neck, they've been uncharacteristically lethargic and don't even want to go outside. i'm getting worried. and where is all the p**p going?? they only go in the garage at night, haven't gone outside in days, and their kitty closet cat box is dry, so where are they pooping?? we found the pee, but where's the p**p going? ahh i'm scared to find out... :/

There is something wrong, you need to get a blood test from the VET for them to make sure they are healthy. It could be anything from inflammatory bowel disease or diabetes please take them in..

Cats will act out like this to punish you for something, or if they have a urinary tract infection.  In the past my two cats had UTIs at the same time; vet suspected it was the dry food I was using at the time.  Or perhaps the boxes aren't clean enough or they don't like the litter that's being used.

Take them to the vet for a check up.  Clean the litter boxes well.  Change the brand of litter (get unscented).  Put catnip around the boxes to lure them to the area.  Buy urine neutralizer at a pet store or Walmart to eliminate the smell in the carpets.  Go outdoors with them several times during the day.
