today my friend was cooking something on the gas stove, it did not ignite , no flame lit up and it sat there for a bit. gas was just running out and gave off a smell. we turned it off, opened the windows and got out of the house. were back in and its aired out (3 hours) and off, no smell of gas but it is safe to be in here still ? My mother checked it just before, the other ignite and nothing happens to make us believe gas is still existant but were not sure if its smill harmful to us. we are about to go to bed.

  1. If there is no smell, it is safe to be in the house.  If you are still concerned, you can turn off the gas to the stove at the valve which will be located between the stove and the wall.

  2. call 911!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! just kidding. i dont know what to do but call the stove company or something?

  3. If its a newer stove and has electronic ignition, you can still manually light it with a bbq lighter. If you shut it off, there is little danger. Get an appliance tech to take a look at it since its a pretty minor repair.

  4. the gas you smelled was the unburnt gas from the failed burner you are safe as long as you leave that burner off get the stove fixed when possible.  also remove the k**b from the failed burner until repair is complete

  5. Go to your local city hall and tell the person at the front desk trust me i've done it before. Also its not safe do it asap

  6. After all the time and you shut it off it's fine. Just don't use that bad burner.
