  1. Well, it all depends on whether you like your life there or have some cash to move away.  Credit card companies have very few rights when it comes to legally finding you and you will not have committed an offence by leaving the debt behind.  I have done this and it worked for me but it is not for everyone and I would not advise everyone to take this course of action.  It is best to start with a free legal advice agency for citizens who will give you impartial advice.  I am now living in a foriegn country in Europe and love it.  I had been paying minimum payments to my account for years and knew that I had at least paid what I owed them.  I sold up and moved out and have never looked back.  Life is great and I have a good business and a lovely wife along with 14 cats and 3 dogs so don't regret a thing.

  2. call for the credit card company and make a pymt arrangemet

  3. The hard truth is that you're spending more than you're getting. So even without the credit card debt, your present spending habits will get you even more in debt.

So start by figuring out a budget that will stop this pattern and keep your expenses within your income. You may have to make some serious lifestyle changes, like moving to a smaller, less expensive place, giving up the car for one with better gas mileage or public transit, etc.

The next step is to come up with a plan to repay the credit card. Your credit may be good enough to qualify you for a loan at a lower interest rate than the credit card. The you'd pay off the card with the loan, and pay off the loan in installments. Or you can call the credit card company about it. You won't be the only one who's ever called, and they do want to help so it works for both you and them.

You can get help with this, and you should. http://www.nfcc.org/ has referrals to legitimate credit counselors who will help you.

There's also a support group, Debtors Anonymous. You don't have to be a compulsive debtor to find help there. Check them out for a chapter near you: http://www.debtorsanonymous.org/

  4. call the credit card company and make payment arraignments.

Do not wait for them to call you.
