Help please i feel upset?

where doing a play herculese i am a muse and my friend is meg i sang a song with her and the teachers where only clapping her and saying well done emily that was great but no well done shelby do you think she likes her better?

i feel useless and feel like they just drag me around :(

The most likely reason is oversight. Meg is the main one, so they direct group applause toward the main character in the group.

People can be so mean without even realizing it. Try not to let it get you down. Do your best and know that at the end of the day you are proud of what you accomplish.

You could also take the teachers aside and ask them if there is something wrong with your performance. Ask it as if you are looking for constructive criticism. Hopefully they will realize their neglect.

its so upsetting when this happens.. this happened to me when i was a lead in guys and dolls.. i would sing and get applause, but the other lead would always get like a standing ovation! i didn't understand it! there attention is probably more focused on her because of her leading role.. i know unfair. but without your part the song wouldnt sound half as good! ha its hard to understand why the teachers wouldn't be giving the same encouragement to everyone, but i really don't think it is a matter or them liking her more.. i know that whenever i play "i wont say i'm in love" out of my speakers at home i always have more fun belting out the muse parts anyways. ha try not to take the attention that is being directed at Emily personally.. it will just upset you. its not fair, and not even worth thinking about.. i'm sure you tried out for this play to have a fun experience and meet new people. just remember that and have fun with your part! dont let what other people do ruin it for you!! good luck :]

They just probably chose her cause they couldn't hear you well?

you can't expect applause every time you perform especially if you are doing backup for another performer.  if she received applause, most likely you made her sound better by doing well yourself.

remember NOBODY is special if everyone is. you have to earn what you get.
