  1. You will most likely be an 11B and not an 11C.  I forgot how they pick who gets what, but don't worry.

  2. Start practicing by dry firing in order to always hit the target.  Practice make perfect in target shooting.

  3. They will give you a numbered test with an answer sheet and two probes. You have to go down the list touching the appropriate boxes with the probes as fast as you can. If you don't want to be a mortar maggot, fail that test.

  4. You chose career management field 11 - you could be an 11B or an 11C - your chance are far better for being an 11B - there are more of them.

  5. Well, actually, I started out as 11B and was switched over to 11C and had to go back through MOSQ as an E-7...

11C's are 11B's with additional skills.

11B's are 11B's who need additional skills to be 11C's.

There are many more 11B's than 11C's.  So, by chance you will go from an 11X to an 11B.

Once again, a mortarman is a rifleman with additional skills.  A rifleman is a rifleman but can be transferred to other 11 series.

Good luck to you at Benning, especially in August.

  6. Every ones primary "MOS" (military occupation specialty) is 11B.

Therefore I'd say your chances are pretty good.
