  2. Hamster

  3. a rat or a hamster is a great choice.

I prefer hamsters, but rats tend to be smarter and more affectionate.

all you need to do is take them out for a bit every day, give fresh food and water daily, a treat now and then, and a deep cage cleaning once a week, as well as removing all soiled bedding once a day.

    very easy.

    and very fun!

  4. I would definitely get two female guinea pigs!  Here are ten tips for taking care of piggies...

    1.  The cage needs to be at least 30 inches wide and 18 inches long with a house, a food bowl and a water bottle of at lease 8 oz inside it.

    2.   I use and recommend Hartz Bonanza Guinea Pig Gourmet Diet when it comes to the  feeding, a handful for each piggy at each meal.  (two meals a day)

    3.   I also use and recommend pine wood shavings when it comes to the weekly cage cleaning day, putting about an inch of wood shavings in each cage.

    4.   Try to give your guinea pigs at least 10 minutes a day in space bigger than their cage, so they can get some exercise.   Warning:  Most piggies like dark spaces.

    5.    When purchasing guinea pigs,  try to get two females with shiny fur, clean eyes and noses,  no scars, and loud, healthy voices.

    6.   Guinea pigs need to be with some of their own kind, which is why I recommend two females.   Two males would fight nonstop and a male and a female...

    7.   In America, most piggies cost anywhere from $20 to $40 each and the cages cost about $45 each.

    8.  Guinea pigs DO NOT need wheels.

    9.  DO NOT give guinea pigs iceburg lettuce as a treat...It gives them diarrhea.   Stick with romaine lettuce as a treat.

    10.    Hold each piggy daily for at least 5 minutes.

    Good luck!

  5. Get a dwarf hamster and put him in a 10 gallon aquarium, he won't take up much space and he can't get out and get hurt.  Just make sure you get a silent spinner wheel so he won't keep you awake all night.

  6. Hamsters... I have one and my little sister (8 yrs) can put food in its cage with help and stuff like that. the hardest thing about hamsters is probably cleaning the cage which takes about 45 minutes max.

  7. I would get a chinchilla.

Chinchillas are sociable, funny, expressive creatures that are very energetic and eager to have a good time.

Chinchillas can live to 10+ years so make sure you are ready for that type of commitment.

All chinchillas need to eat are fresh, good quality pellets like Mazuri, a dust bath (preferably with Blue Cloud Dust), fresh Timothy Hay, and a water bottle which need renewing daily!

Please check out the forum below- there's a wealth of information on there.

  8. Gerbils!

  9. gerbils are very easy to take care of.  they are very friendly and cute.  they arent scared of much so they are perfectly comfortable with you handling them. they do not bite or smell like most rodents do.  they live around 4 to 5 years.  they are best kept in same s*x pairs.  they are proven to live longer healthier lives with a buddy.  gerbils arent nocturnal instead they are up at various hours so you will see them awake during the day.  they dont cost much either.  also for whatever small pet you get you should consider an aquarium because with cages the bedding gets kicked out and they will chew through it.

    hope this helps
