  1. Ok I have two boys and a girl. If you have a husband or partner that is male, he should be bringing him to the bathroon and helping him. By demonstrating what he supposed to do, he will eventually copy. Persistance is the key. I do not believe in pull-ups for the fact that all they are is oversized diapers. If you can handle a couple messes, go striaght for the underwear and he will pick up fast. Praise him a whole lot when he does go to the potty and it will work out.

Boys are not harder, I had both my boys trained by 2 years 3 months.

    Good Luck

  2. The singing potties are the best. When warm water hits the bowl on the potty it starts playing music, my nephew loves it. He is almost 3 and has been trained for 3 months.  take your child to the rest room every 30-45 minutes and make them sit there for at least 10 minutes with them. Let the water in the sink run while they sit their and even go as far as letting them play in a warm bowl of water with their hands. My brother did this with his son for about 2 weeks and he is completely potty trained.

  3. I stated by only changing diapers in the bathroom. When my daughter pooed in her diaper, i would dump it in the potty, if  I could and let her flush it. I let her wear undies and put her on the potty every 20 minutes. Potty training is time demanding, but can be done quick if you stick to your guns. I was told boys are harder, but I don't know, I have 3 girls and in the process of training my 2nd.....good luck, hope that helps

  4. I am potty training my 2.5 year old right now.  I've tried everything.  When she was ready, she started going on the potty.  I didn't buy any special diapers or pull-ups.  She went straight to "big-girl panties" and I just sat her on the toilet every so often.  When she did go, she earned "potty prizes"  (2 M&M's) and we sang a potty song that I made up.  It's been about a week and she is completely potty trained.  There were accidents, but I just cleaned it up and reminded her that she needed to go on the potty.  I tried to make it a stress free situation.

  5. Pulling off his diaper does not mean he is ready for potty training -- and being only 17 months, the odds of him being ready are pretty low.

I would work on keeping the diaper on (dress him in ways that hinder access) and wait until he is more likely to be ready -- he'll  probably somewhere between 2 and 4 years old.

(If he's showing OTHER signs of interest/readinses [wants to wear underwear, use the toilet, able to talk about using the potty], then you can try letting him go bare for a few days, with the potty handy.  If he sees what's happening and can connect it with the 'feeling', he MAY be able to train this young.  But if he makes no progress in a few days, put him back in diapers.)

  6. The average potty training age for girls is 2 1/2 and the average age for boys is 3 1/2 so boys might not be harder to train but they are slower.  I waited until my sons had some bladder control and would wake with a dry diaper.  It helped them to potty train standing up so they could see what was happening and connect what they saw with what they felt internally.  I researched and found a very safe and very sturdy stool with sides for the toilet so they could hold on standing or sitting.  http://www.amazon.com/Elite-Child-Corpor...

This stool made all the difference for them and was well worth it.  Potty training is a hurdle but don't let it stress you out.  Hope this helps.

  7. I dont have a child but we're potty training my little brother rite now. We started off with small treats that he likes and gave one to him everytime he pottied we're about half way thru and now we scorn him when he potties him in pullups or underwear and we praise him when he potties in the toilet. And not necessarily my sister refused for like a year to potty in the toilet. My dad once kept her on the training potty for like half a day and fed her lotz of juice my mom got home and told him to get her off the potty she got off and looked my dad rite in the eye squatted down and peed rite on the floor next to the potty

  8. get the little pot sit next to your pot and go together. Don't be harsh. Give him an incentive after each use. If he pees give him a lollipop if he poops give him something bigger (because sometimes pooping seems to be the most difficult one).

Far as peeing just show him how to stand and aim. (teach him about aim early! lol and if he pees on the seat or floor give him toilet tissue to wipe it up! teach him early girl! Lol)
