Question:

Help protect my eyesight from getting worse?

I was born premature with a retina detachment in my right eye and since then I can't see a single thing out of that eye but with the left eye I can see with my glasses to 25/20. My eye doctor told me there is no possible way I can ever get to 20/20 vision because of my right eye not seeing. Plus, he told me that my vision might get worse year after year. I'm thirteen right now and I really want to be able to drive and just live normally without having my vision getting worse or getting thicker glasses every year. Is there any way to keep my vision intact so it can still stay in the 20/25 range over the course of the next few years?

  1. Your vision with lenses may stay as it is for life.  Your lenses may need to be thicker, but your vision should stay the same.

  2. Sorry Angel...a way to do that would be one of  the greatest medical discoveries of the last 300 years.

You have several more years to grow , and changes will probably happen in your vision too.

Perhaps if your myopia starts progressing quickly, your Dr. may consider you wearing an RPG lens to slow it down. It works in many cases , to some extent.

    Good luck to you...

  3. at 13 you will see in time...tech is so good now, i think with good diet, eye checks at least once a year, you will by age 25 have 20/20! goodluck
