I'm thinking about ordering a stun gun from america and was just wondering if the package will get checked when its getting shipped over? what will happen to me if they find out what it is when its getting shipped over to the uk? will i get sent to court or anything or will they just seize the item?

Its a firearm and as such it matters not if you have it at home or outside, you will go to prison.

If its intercepted en route you will go to court and possibly prison.

Think you may need to grow up and stop being silly.

If you are a british police officer you badly need to refresh your firearms knowledge, its not ok for the asker to have it in there premise and what is a POW?  

Section 5(1)(b) of the firearms act 1968 refers to

Any weapon of whatever description designed or adapted for the discharge of any noxious liquid, gas or other thing."

The emission of electricity from a stun device amounts to a 'discharge' (a Lightning Strike hand-held electric stun device was held to be a weapon designed for the discharge of a noxious thing (see Flack v Baldry [1988] as the case law

Its a offence to carry/posses/own a stun gun as its classed as a section 5 firearm.

If you order this and it is delivered and your later found with it in your home or on your person, you will be arrested and questioned about why you have such a item and can face charges of possessing a prohibted weapon under section 5 of the Firearms act 1968

As for customs they will seize it and pass the information to the police that you had attempted to order/export such a item you could also find yourself questioned for trying to import a prohibited article.

I am a police officer and i know that some packages are checked, and you will be safe as long as it never leaves your premises as soon as it is officially yours... if it does it is a POW (potentially offensive weapon) and you can be reported and arrested.

they x ray all packages! and they are totally illegal in the uk! you will get a prison sentence!

I wouldn't advise it, there's a possibility that you could get found out!

If you got found out there's a chance you could get some "down time" or a heavy fine.

Do not even try to order,most suppliers have to sign a form regarding the content,this is for customs to know what is in the package.Why on earth do you need a stun gun

The odds are it would simply be confiscated at customs. By law, they would have to notify you of the "seizure", and in doing so would offer you the opportunity to "claim" the item. You would, being of sound mind, obviously not attempt to do so. Further action would be unlikely, as they would then have to prove that it was purchased, "for your own personal use"! A claim easily contested, so don`t worry too much!
