i work part time at target as a cashier but today im feeling really sick and i dont think that ill be able to work today so i called in sick this morning. its about 9am right now. but my mananger was like "you dont think theres any way you can come in?" and i said no and he said stuff like "are you sure" and it just made me feel like c**p. (im not lying btw). he also kept saying that they really need cashiers for today too. and then he told me to call back at 11am if im not going to come in. so he wants me to recall them to tell them im sick again.

how do i call back without sounding like im faking?

plus i dont want to get fired or anything, but i guess if i do it wont be the end of the world so i wont mind that much.

(ive only been working here for like 1 and a half months and its the second time ive called in sick too)

  1. If you're sick don't go to work, if he fires you he fires you, I'm sure you'll find something else.

Don't worry too much, life goes on.

  2. I have about 800 people working in my division and listen to alot of people report off everyday.  The less you say, the better.  Just say I'm sick, you really don't want me there in this condition.  Try to be honest with yourself, though.  Are you really sick or just don't want to work?

  3. you havent beent there that long so, I would try to find coverage for your hours. If you can, get a doctors note too - sometimes your doctor will fax one in without having to make an appt. Its worth a shot. Call your boss back and tell him you really can't come in. End of story. Its none of his business why you're going to be out - legally they CAN'T ask because of HIPAA!! Not many people know that. Anyway, I hope you feel better

  4. Grow up. If your well enough to surf the net you can go to work. Other people are depending on you to be there. Have some respect for the people around you. Most people dont feel like going to work everyday but we do its called a work ethic. Learn it while your young, you'll advance more later in ife.

  5. Well, obviously you want to tell him the truth... but if you're really worried that you're going to get fired for it, maybe when you call at 11, you should say that you could try to come in for a little while later on? Is there anything you can take to make you feel a bit better, like a lemsip or something?

  6. If you can take the time to go on 'Answers' then you're not sick. Get to work you skiver!!
