Help...really sore throat!?

I know I should call my doctor, but since it's Sunday here please humor me. I woke up with a really sore throat this morning..and thought maybe I just slept with my mouth open at one point. It hurts to swallow a little and to talk and if I move my tongue a certain way. I don't think it's strep..but I've never had it so I wouldn't know. What do you all think? What can I do and how to I protect my 11 week old son from getting this from me?

BTW- no fever.

  2. Actually I don't think you should automatically call your doctor.  If you can manage to swallow, have no fever/shortness of breath and don't feel too bad apart from a sore throat....go to your pharmacist and get some paracetamol.

  3. Just go to the doctor. That way they can check it. Just go!

  4. Gargle with salt water at least once an hour since this will kill germs.  Chloraceptic will help with the pain.  Wash Wash Wash your hands.  You would not realize how many time you touch your mouth a day and this sounds like where your germs are.  You can take care of your baby just keep from breathing, coughing, or sneezing on or by him.  Ask for help if there is anyone to care for your baby until you see your doctor within the next day or two.  Good luck!
