  1. It's generally quickest to go up to London and down again.  Check with National Rail enquiries. http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/

  2. Doing the entire journey by train requires two changes at Bromley South and Ashford International. A slightly faster route would be to take an Arriva route 155 bus from Rochester to Maidstone East rail station; then take the train and change at Ashford International.. For bus timetable information phone Travelline 0871 2002233

  3. Try:

    www.planajourney.co.uk

It will give you all the info you need, once you put in your departure and arrival destinations. I use it a lot, as it gives you times, changes, via bus, train etc etc

    xx

  4. Two choices really, via London or not.  If you go via London, then you can either go into London Bridge and change there for the Hastings service, change again at Hastings. Into London Victoria and change for the Hastings via Gatwick service and change again at Hastings.

Not via London, go via Maidstone route to Tonbridge and change for Hastings, or via Canterbury and change at Ashford.

Either way it will take you some time as there is no easy way, nor quick as the Hastings to Ashford service is quite limited.

If you goto the Ticket sales clerk and ask they will be able to give you options and prices more precise to your requirements.

    Hope this helps

  5. Http://www,thetrainline.co.uk/

Type in the start point and the destination.

  6. The recommended rail route is as follows and requires 4(!) changes:

Rochester dept 50 mins past hour

Arr, Strood 54 mins past hour, change

    Strood dept.01 mins past hour

Arr Maidstone Barracks 21  mins past hour

    WALK to Maidstone East

Maidstone East dept 55 mins past hour

Arr Ashford International 15 mins past hour

Ashford International dept 30 mins past hour

Rye arrive 53 minutes past hour (two hours after leaving Rochester, so if you left at 11.50am you would arrive at Rye at 13.53) This pattern seems to apply throughout the day (contrary to one answer there are hourly trains from Ashfor dto Hastings on the 'Marshlink' line)
