Question:

Help!! runners and track people? how to run faster?

i'm trying out for track next yr and maybe cross country... what can i do to run faster in the mile,& 800m (1/2 mile)...

also what can i do to strengthen my upper thighs... because the doc says there weak and thats part of my knee problems- i already have to do ankle lifts for this

  1. for a 13 year old anything under 12 minutes is good and under 9 minutes is track running! keep it up dont give up good work ! :]


  2. i'm in track and soccer and have done well at both. i run for about a half hour or more every day. i practice short sprints and long distance running. instead of just running, i pay attention to my breathing (if my breaths are really fast and heavy or if i'm holding my breath too much) and my steps (when i'm doing short distance sprints, my feet move quicker when i take short steps. for long distance, i take longer steps.) every time i go out i think about how i did the day before and try to improve anything that needs improvement. it really works for me!

  3. i run track and xc.. and i have knee problems my doc gave me a sheet of exercises to do..... just do normal streches of ur quadriceps and some side leg lifts and that should help...

    ps my mile time for track is like 6:00[im 13 to]! but a mile time in xc will be diffrent cause of the terrain.... but ur doin well if ur just startin..... just keep on tranning!

  4. for a 13 year old girl , a pretty good time for the 800 would be under 2.50
