Help! slow pc!!!!!!!

Question

i just removed a virus in my pc using avast but my pc is still slow ( i mean very slow). what do i do?

Re install your pc.........with Microsoft XP SP2...... It is the best way to remove all viruses and then install Kaspersky 8.0 version it is the best.........

I would scan for spy/malware and trojans with a seperate scanner.  I personally would use some external scanner or use your antivirus in safemode.

Have you tried http://www.windowsecurity.com/trojanscan ? Its a activex application so you will have to use Internet Explorer.

All being well you should be able to pick up any nasties that you may have.

Check that you dont have any applications running that you dont use.  You can do this by going to start->run->type "msconfig" and selecting what you want to run at startup.

Also if you have been using your computer for awhile it might be good to defrag your primary harddisk.

If all else fails try backing up everything that you want to keep and do a fresh install of your operating system.

If that fails then its time to get some more RAM.

Your system files may be corrupted.

Try using CCleaner to clean the remaining leftover by the virus.

If that doesn't help, backup your data to CD/DVD.

Then reformat and reinstall Windows XP and install XP SP3.
