ok, i got my baby corn snake on the 9th on july and the day i got him they let me feed him at the pet store to show me how it's done and my snake ate the pinky mouse right away when i fed him there. so when it was time to feed him again, he wouldn't eat at all. so i just figured i'd try again the next day, but still he wouldn't eat. for the next few days i slept over at my cousins house and then my mom called me when i was over there and told me that she fed my snake a mouse inside his cage and he ate it right away, but she didnt realize she had to take him out to feed him. so another few days pass and i come home to try to feed my snake again and he would not eat when i put him in his feeding box! and now i'm starting to wonder if he's going to shed soon. his eyes are not turning milky but i have noticed that his scales have been fading in color a little bit. also, when i try to take him out, he seems terrified of me (that never happened before) and he franticly darts around the cage trying to avoid me. occaisionaly he will come out from out of his hide box and rub his nose against the side of the viv but i don't know if hes trying to escape or just start to break his skin to shed. plz help, im rlly worried

  1. I had a boa and when he was about to shed about a week before he would shed he was raoming cage and would make holes in his bedding and then a few days later he would start shedding. So that is common for that to happen if he has not shed in the next week I would consult Vet by phone first before taking him in to see if they have any suggestions.Do you have heat rock in there if not I highly suggest helps them shed skin much easyier good luck

  2. well you could go on google.com or ask.com and try to look up stuff about your snake and see what is going on with him I am sorry I am not a exspert on snakes so all I can do is give you a few suggestions.

  3. Most snakes do not eat while in the stages of pre shedding.  Young snakes shed more often so watch out for it.  I do not know how often you are trying to feed it, but once a week would be more then enough.  The ammount you feed it is going to cause it grow more quickly.  You should not worry unless it goes up to about 14 days without eating.  Now, most corn snakes shed whole, the fact that his/her eyes are not becoming cloudy should not cause concern.  In three or four days you should have a whole shed.  Also, do not worry about the darting around the tank.  It's a baby, they tend to be fairly nervous.  It took one of mine 6 months to not run from me when I opened the tank.  If the shed starts to come in patches your can email me for more advice.

  4. he is just about to shed its nothing to worry about..sometimes they can be a little mean around shedding time..but dont worry about your mom feeding him in the cage just next time make sure she puts him in the feeding box before..............and only feed him ONCE a week and if you do feed him two times a week and he is not hungry then he is just not goin to eat(nothing to worry about)..GOODLUCK

make sure he has a water bowl to help him shed

  5. yes most likely hes going to shed
