Someone hit my car a while back. I wasn't there at the scene (I was parked in my apartment parking lot) but I got all the information from the police because the person who hit me reported it. Well I called them and got their insurance info and haven't heard from them since. Since then the insurance company I called and reported it to said they didn't think that the truck (a moving van registered under the driver's father's name) was covered and that they could not get ahold of them. I haven't been able to get in contact besides voicemail.

On the police report it says the "owner" is the father but could that be the name the moving truck was rented under. I can't imagine owning a truck and not having it insured.

I am getting really upset because this has put me out of a car and I don't know what to do.

Oh yeah, and the state this has happened in is Tennessee.

  1. the best way to handle this is to call YOUR insurance company and file a claim.  if you have full coverage they will pay for the damages and then subrogate back to the other persons insurance for repayment plus your deductible.  this is why you pay your company.  let them do the work for you, and they WILL as they want their money back.  its done all the time.

  2. im in pa , my car was hit and totaled in feb , the driver was uninsured. havent seen a cent yet. the insurance co said ill get a check for 100 dollars every 3 months starting next month.

  3. You need to report this to your insurance company.  They have resources to get this info and settle the claim.  They may suggest you use your insurance to go after the other party ( I agree)
