Help strength training? URGENT!!!

K...soo i hav soccer tryouts on the 13th of august. and we hav to run a mile in 6:30. I run pretty much everyday. i can run a 6:50 but i reallly want to be on this team. soo ik about interval sprinting is there anything else i can do?

  1. Two effective ways which few try::

    1...Get into chest-high water in pool, river or sea. Run hard on the spot,

          pumping your arms and legs in the same manner as on land.

          Rest for 3-5mins and repeat a few more times. If you have never

          done it before, do this on alternate days. Many professnl athletes,

          boxers and martial artists love these exercises. This can replace

          the interval sprinting which is the old-fashioned way and i didnt

          find it effective. Pool exercise is cool, safe from injuries and heat

          exhaustion.

    2...Practise knee bends with moderate weights on your shoulders.

         Try out 5 sets of 10-15 reps--according to your weight and ability.

         Alternate days will do, to prevent strain and to allow recovery.

    You should see a great improvement on your mile run and 6:30 is attainable. Also time your best 100m land sprint; if 11secs and faster, you have a potential for national honours.  You already have a positive attitude and great discipline, so success should be easy.  Cheers for the next David Beckham/Ronaldinho!


  2. all i can say is every morning try n beat it, the day b4 get a light jog in so u still got alil enegry, then b4 the tryouts try an engery shot if not redbull
