My super independent kids, duplicating my super independency, decided to quit formal schooling system and have started build a nework of home schools for themself and other kids.

Now, they come up with an idia to try making money online. Anybody already doing thislease, help leveraging 400 kids on my kids' home school network -- of which the members are gradually increasing.

They're now searching for an online money-making opportunities to try by trial and error. And, I personally have no clue to give them advice on this.

Normally, I love to see kids try out anything by trial and error. But, to dig for real things out of cyber space, you know it, a big waste of time, energy, and mentality. They're just in the beginning of learning to trust, to be trust, love, to beloved, and building group confidence.

  1. That's difficult.  Most people assume that online advertisements are scams.  But if they have things to get rid of, ebay is a start.  As they build up a reputation they can set up an online store for whatever kind of business they want to get involved in.  They should go by whatever talents they have and either join up to make the most of combined abilities or go into their own business.   At this age, I think having something physical to sell would be better than a service unless it's something like a web design service.  Good luck

  3. look at my profile, and visit the site under "about me"...sign up there....here is some information about the site:

This is a site from which you are given the chance to earn money. What you have to do is complete surveys and offers for companies that want the public's opinion. By doing this, you are able to earn money very easily for simply giving your opinion or trying out sample products. This is a great service that allows one to work from home, on their spare time, at their leisure, and still bring in a nice sum of money every month. People have made up to $1000 easily on this site by just working on it in their spare time. It is not going to replace a real job's salary, but it is a very nice bonus. There are also many features on this web site, such as contests and special surveys, from which you can redeem extra prizes that would be sent to you with your monthly cheque, such as iPods, Xbox 360s, PSPs, digital cameras, gift certificates, and much more.

Cheques are sent monthly, and usually arrive about a week or a week and a half into the next month. No payment from you is ever required, not to sign up, not EVER. Unlike other sites that try to scam people out of their money, this site never requires you to pay them.

"If the site doesn't get paid from me, then why would they have this service going?" - The site doesn't get paid directly from you, but when you complete an offer or survey, they also get paid a small portion of what you earned yourself. For example, if you complete a survey about computers let's say, you would earn maybe $2 and the web site itself would recieve $0.50 from the company also for getting you to complete the survey. These surveys take little time at all, most taking up less than even 1 or 2 minutes of your time.

Fraud is also a big deal on the Internet these days, and this site recognizes that. That is why they ask for ONLY three bits of information: Your name, email address and your home address. Yup, that is all. No credit card information, no banking information, nothing like that. All they require is your name and address so that your cheque can be sent to your home every month. Your email address is only required to confirm that you have done the offers and surveys. Fortunately, no spam mail or junk mail is ever sent out by this site and your information is never shared with any other company.

Personally I have been a member of this website, along with thousands of other satisfied users, for approximately 1.5 years now and have earned well over $9100 by working in my spare time. This web site has been great to me, also the members and administrator are very friendly, and are always there to help you with a question or problem you may be having. So far, I've listed only positives about this site, because I can't think of a single negative thing about it. Earn money in your spare time, at no cost to you...Easy as that!

  5. Wow.  My kid just works for a local business person and sells tons of popcorn to pay for his Scout year, but he is probably younger than your kids.  He makes more money doing this than most 10yo's, but he's learning to spend it wisely and budget through the year.

That's awesome that they want to do an entrepeneurial project; I have no idea what to tell them either.  Honestly, if my son came to me with that, I would assign it to him as a long-term research project.  I would have them pick 5-10 fairly successful online independent businesses (not necessarily Amazon or anything, but not flops either) and complete an analysis on them - who are they, how did they start, what research was performed before launching, what sort of capital and supplies did/do they need, what is their infrastructure (at start up and now), and what have their business trends and major decisions been through the years.  I would even allow him to contact those businesses to interview someone fairly high up, either in person, by phone, or by email.

I honestly wouldn't let my son launch anything online without performing such an analysis, any more than I'd let him try out for a major league baseball team with no more than Little League under his belt.  There are too many details and legalities that they need to be aware of, and trial and error can be a nasty way to learn them.

Once his analysis phase was complete (I'd probably give him the semester to do this), if he was still interested I'd go ahead and let him plan out his own business.  I'd ask for the same things he'd have to prepare to take out a loan - business plan, presentation clearly thought out, etc.  I would require that he research this process, clearly think through his ideas and plans, and come to me with a nearly fully formed idea.  If he's still excited about it after this phase, then yes, I'd let him launch it.  My husband and I would be the adult presence in the matter, but it would be his baby.

I really would recommend not letting them try anything like that through trial and error though...in the very least, it stands to flop, and at most, it can get you and them into legal or financial trouble.  However, if they do their analysis, research, and planning, involve you where you need to be involved, and still want to do it after that time and effort has passed, then I say let them do it.  However far they go with it, what they learn will serve them very well in life, in many facets of their lives.

    Hope that helps!

  6. Several online companies are reinventing the way that teens read email. Now, teens are getting paid for visiting websites and reading email advertisements. This is one of the easiest ways to make money online.

Some sites even start you off with a five dollar instant bonus. Once signed up you will start getting paid for reading emails and visiting websites. Receive a big check each month just for surfing the Web.

You can read more about it here:

  7. Most on-line money making plans that I've looked into (or tried) have been very disappointing, and all of them have to do with selling expensive items that are not necessities,  with most of the profits going to upline people, as they are mostly network marketing plans, where only the top portion of the pyramid structure has a chance of real money.   I admire the enterpreneurial spirit of the kids a lot, though, and it inspires me to some ideas, as I've always been plagued with enterpreneurial drives myself.   HMMMM....I've lately been contemplating producing a series of comic books and have been wondering how to market them, once I've got them produced.  If your kids want to brainstorm with me about this idea, I'd be open to just tossing the idea around a little bit with them.    Jennie (relatively new to list, happy to be here and meet you).
