  1. I had my male betta (who sadly died last night...)  in a community tank for over a year - and he was with guppies and no agression at all...  BUT the betta was the first fish in my tank, the others came after, so I don't know if that helped...

The thing with bettas is that one may be fine in a community tank, whilst another one may show aggression - each one is different..

Also, I don't know if your shark would like having a betta fish in the tank...?

Another thing - platys are schooling fish and you would be better off getting some more of those to give your lonely one some mates...!!!

  2. dont put it together

  3. It depends If you feed it properly it probably will not try to eat it.

Also since your guppies have big fancy fins it might think it is competition.

  4. right now I have a betta fish in with some mystery snails, ramshorn snails and malysian trumpet snails and 5 mollies, it is a very happy tank. It has been my experience that black tailed sharks are semi-aggressive and tend to to territorial and nip the long fins of bettas. yes the betta could eat your guppies if they are very small, but if they are grown i don't think it will be a problem. platys are pretty peaceful fish. how big is your tank? because a lot of the harmony in your tank hinges on whether you have enough room for everyone to move and be able to get out of each others way. the only problem I can foresee is your shark might pick on your betta and nip away at it's fins. if you really want a betta you should get small tank , one that could go on a desk or a table and then put the betta in there and everyone would be happy. hope this helps

  5. I work in an aquatics centre which sell a wide variety of fish and one of them is a siamese fighter, we recommend that you don't put a fighter in a tank with anything with long fins or tails therefore a guppy would get attacked by a siamese because of its tail fin.

I also would not advise anyone to buy  siamese fighting fish as it limits what you can get in a fish tank.

    Hope this helps
