Question:

Help to achieve my original internet network back?

maybe like a week 1/2 ago, my internet was acting kind of funny. it would say i was connected to the internet, but i would try and the internet wouldn't work. i did something where i changed the advanced settings on the 'available wireless networks' menu so it could connect back to the internet. i configured something, i think. i can't quite remember though. it worked, though!

there is one desktop computer in my house, and i have my own laptop. the desktop has a cox internet modem, and we use a linksys router to get the internet to my laptop. my old internet was called "June022007", and now the internet connection is "linksys (unsecured)". i'm not exactly sure what it means by unsecured?

since yesterday my internet connection has been going out for about 30 seconds every 5 minutes, and when it is fully connected, youtube and stuff like that takes a VERY long time loading, if it even loads at all.

now, about 20 minutes ago i went to go see what my IP address was online. it is a completely new IP, and the map on the page says my IP and computer are coming from Phoenix (which is about, idk... 50 or 75 miles away?).

now i was just wondering if this meant anything?

and how do i get June022007 back? that was a secured network, and it said I was in my real city, Tucson.

thanks!

  1. call the geek squad

  2. I suggest just reset you router to the factory default and just set it up again, its simpler than try ing to figure out what wrong with it

Follow the tutorial below to secure your network it for linksys router

  3. go to restore and sit it to that date

  4. It appears as though your lease time for your IP address is expiring every 30 minutes and it is taking forever getting a new IP, which rly annoyed me when I got my own new router. The nerd/geek thing to do would be to go into your router settings and look for an option regarding "Lease Time" and set it to like: 1 day instead of an automatic option of 30 mins. Easy thing to do would be to call your ISP or router company, but I always like to do things myself. Sry I couldn't help you more, I have to get to sleep now. Ahaha.
