  1. You can try to get your parents to wash their laundry in cold water, you just need to buy coldwater detergent. It works just as good. Turn off your lights when leaving a room. Try to unplug things, like laptops and such, when not in use, because even though the laptop is off (plugged in though) it still uses energy. If you really want to, you can follow the rhyme " when it's yellow, let it mellow. When it's brown flush it down! " As in toilets and such..

  2. Good Job!

Helping in any way you can in super smart.

If there is no recycling on your street, try to locate one in your town. If there isn't one in town, but there is one in a nearby city, try to get your parents to bring their old newspaper or cans to the city when they go.

If you ride the school bus and are less than a mile or two away, boycott it! Take a bike, skateboard or walk.

Ask your parents to start a carpool with their colleagues. Less cars is less pollution and traffic.

Make sure all of your appliances have the Energysaver lable. If not, when one of them breaks, reccomend one.

If you walk past a room without a person and with a light, cut it off.

When you brush your teeth in the morning, don't leave the sink running. Try to get your family to do the same.

Double paned windows will save in electric bills. Talk to your parents about them.

Growing your own plants is indeed green and is easier than you'd think. We had a garden for several summers of my childhood. Eating the rewards was the best part! Plus, it'd save on your grocery bills by tons!

I hope these tips can help you. I doubt they'll do all of them. But the important thing is, you're trying, and you will have these tips for the future to apply in your life. Good Luck!

  3. The key is to get your parents to make your house more energy efficient, but not "green"

The main point is not to do this to "save the environment", and especially not to fall into the liberal money trap of global warming.

Recycle to save the amount of plastic and glass in the world.

Compost to grow your own garden to eat, not to reduce CO2

Use energy saving appliances to save money, not to reduce the amount of plooution power plants create.

If you want to do these things for yourself, or a local community, great!, Just don't do it because of of the environment and global warming.

I'm 16, and our generation does not need to carry on this misconcieved notion that the world is doomed.

  4. woh this is one smart kid =)
