Question:

Help to catch a thief?

Around my house, my father has an open bed metal trailer with lawn equipment. He recently started his own business and we park the trailer beside our house along our yard. However, someone has taken 3 different 5-gallon tanks of gas at different times [we sugared the 3rd though, so a little payback.]

Yesterday a $500 dollar weed-eater was accidentally left unlocked on the rack in the trailer, and wouldn't you know it disappeared before the next morning.

I was thinking of either putting a motion detector back there with a bait weed-eater to makes a sound inside the house should it move so we can wake up and catch them. The other idea was to put a locator hidden inside of one,but I don't know where to find such a thing. We suspect the person is less than two miles away; and I would love to be able to catch them after they stash it.

We know it should be locked up, and we will; but I want to catch them now too. Anyone know any ways to do the above, or have any other ideas?

  1. Try calling the police first of all. Set up traps for him, i.e., wire something up to an electrical outlet, dig a hole that can trap his foot or leg. Stay awake and actually WATCH for him! If you hurt him with a trap, however, you can be sued, so careful what you do.

  2. You can install security cameras with recorder to record any intruders that can be triggered by a motion detector.  A cheaper way would be to again use a motion detector to trigger a siren or loud alarm to possibly deter the thief, not only by lights, but by sounds.  It all depends on much you are willing to spend to secure your items.

  3. it is somebody u know pay close attention to those around you, its always the case!
