  1. I like all of the names you've listed, except for Phi. You can't go wrong with any of the names on your short list. They all sound quite nice with your surname.

My favourite choices, in order of preference are: (1) Felix, (2) Edward, (3) Timothy, and (4) David.

Edward: I love the name Edward. Like Eric, it's a timeless, handsome name. I don't know whether or not I like the sibling set Eric and Edward. The names are alliterative, because of the 'e' sound at the start of each name, and they both have two syllables. But they're both such distinctive, classic names that I don't think this matters too much.

Felix: This name sounds incredibly good with Eric's name. Felix is one of those traditional, yet striking names. It has a lovely meaning: it's latin  and means 'lucky, successful'. Like the name Eric, Felix has a strong history. To find out more about this name, have a look at this link: http://www.behindthename.com/name/felix

Timothy: A handsome biblical name. Timothy is more popular than your other choices, ranking at #100 in popularity in the U.S. top 100 names. It's is also more dated, as the name peaked in popularity in 1959. This name is a good, solid choice, but I don't like it as much as some of your other options.

Quentin: This name is distinguished and eye-catching. It's a nice name option, but I think that it sounds a little bit pretentious.

David: My opinion on David is similar to my opinion of Timothy. It's a handsome biblical name, but it's a bit dated. The name has a mid-century feel, as it peaked in popularity in 1955.

Brandon: This name isn't as timeless as your other name options. Rather, it's a contemporary classic that peaked in popularity in 1992 and has been reasonably popular ever since (it currently ranks at #31). Eric and Brandon don't sound bad together, but the names aren't really of the same style.

Xavier: This name is a Catholic one to me, as there are many Catholic boys in my area being named this in honour of St. Francis Xavier (a Jesuit Priest and Christian missionary). The name is a nice one, but it doesn't seem to match that well with Eric. Additionally, I don't like the way it sounds like your surname. Xavier Loeber sounds too sing-songy, because both names end with that '-er' sound.

Here are some more suggestions that you might like:

Thomas, Vincent, Patrick, Evan, Reuben, Ivan, Marcus, Joseph, Roman, Henry, Graham, Isaac, Phillip, Dexter, William, Nicholas, Christian, Adam, Jered... My favourite name for your new son remains Felix and Edward.
