I need to know if anyone carries battery inserts to fit my 18 volt Dewalt cordless drill. I have 3 of them that need rebuilding and would like to do it myself.

  1. Hi, The packs are made of what is called 'mini c' batteries. They are a smaller c battery that has a welding tab on both the positive and negative terminals of 1.2 volts. They are soldered in series to get the 18 volts in your tool. I have used the ones from Radio Shack and they are ok. If you are going to rebuild the tool there are websites with much cheaper batteries than RS. You can test each battery with a volt ohm meter but If you are going to all this trouble I would just replace them all in the pack. However it is almost always more expensive to do it this way than just buy a new pack. If peak performance is not a concern by all means just test the individual batteries and solder in a replacement. Hope this helps.

  2. I have a dozen of them.If there is a way,I would sure like to know.

My wife got mad at me because I won't dispose of them and hurled one at me.It hit me square in the forehead and left a scar.

    That one found a use.

  3. I have never even heard of a way to rebuild those batteries.  I am guessing they are Ni-cads.  Throw them away and buy replacement batteries.

  4. you cant rebuild those batteries...are you sure its the batteries and not the drills themselves..
