Help transfering my mini dvd camcorder videos into my computer?

Ok this is the thing I have a Sony mini dvd camcorder and I have been trying to transfer my videos into my laptop, but I dont know what to do...help please!...I have tried to put the mini dvd into my laptop but it doesn't read it. And I dont know what "finalize it" means....(My mini dvd camcorder has a touchable screen, so its kinda tricky for me..:S) Is there a usb cable thing I can buy and that will help me transfer my videos or something...someone please help me resolve my problem so I can upload my videos like in youtube, myspace...etc....Thank you before hand.

  1. If you have a mini dvd camcorder….

    You will have to finalize your dvd in the camera and then put the dvd in your computer's DVD burner (top loading only) and then you will have to convert the files (I downloaded handbrake file converter free) and import them into your editing program. Use the HELP feature in your editing program to learn about editing. Once you are ready to burn, your project will be burned to a different DVD and you can file the original away.

I have a DVC tape camcorder, and usually I find the A/V output and plug in the A/V cable and plus the other end into my DVD player and record it to DVD that way.  Then with the DVD you can just put it in the computer and rip it to whatever format you want.  I think your recorder might have a firewire output, and you can make sure your computer has a firewire input and then you can get a cable to transfer it to your computer that way.  That's the best way to do it
