Help! trying to hook up blu-ray with direct tv!!?

I need simple instructions to hook up a blu ray to my tv. I already have a satalite hooked up.

  1. Does your tv have an hdmi input? If so, use that for the bluray and (hopefully) a second hdmi for the sat box. If you don't then you will have to use component cables (the red, green blue ones). The bluray will be on a separate input from the sat box so you will need to change the input on the tv when watching bluray then change it back to watch satellite tv


  2. direct tv and blu ray player are two totally different machines. direct tv lets u watch live tv programming. whereas blu ray just lets u play movies on a disc.

    just put the cables for the blu ray player in a different slot on the back of the tv then where the cables for the satellite are.

  3. If your TV has an open input connection, just connect your blu ray to it. If not , check the back of the satellite receiver for any input jacks and connect through it. If you are using a receiver or surround sound processor, find an empty input slot ie. video 1, video 2, aux in, etc. and connect through that way and let the receiver do the switching. Your satellite receiver has to go through the receiver also of you choose the latter scheme. Good luck!
