We will be in Zurich Switzerland with a rental car, and will have two entire days (days only) to go wherever else we want. So for day trips, here are our options. Which is best, and what things can you do in these cities?

Munich, Germany

Milan, Italy

Southern France, such as Monaco or Marseille

Where would you go of these and what would you do?

  1. Monaco and enjoy the casinos and the unique French nightlife !

  2. I'm assuming those are the options that appeal to you the most, as there are plenty more options!

More Switzerland, or Austria, for example.

As long as you are using a rental car, there's always Neuschwantstein, outside of Munich, then spend a day in Munich as well.  I have always wanted to go there, (the castle) but had to opt out on the only trip I took to the region.

Munich is a lovely Bavarian city, tourists usually go to the HofBräu Haus, but you could go to any bier garten and get the more authentic thing.  I had to get the tee shirt and mug with the logo on it.  There's tons of churches.  German churches have a different look about them than the rest of Europe.  Sort of a quieter dignity about them.  The Glockenspiel in Marienplatz is really neat.  Honestly, that's all I can remember.  try looking it up online.

What I know about Milan is mostly what was mentioned on the Olympic broadcasts.

I am dying to go Monaco!  Marseille is a dirty port city.  I wouldn´t go there.

  3. milan italy, because my aunts r from there, and i love shoes, and clothes, and there they have awesome shoe stores, i cant even explain how cute the shoes r!

  4. I have been to all of these places, but I would suggest that you do a mapquest to figure out if they are really doable when you just have the day.  Remember that you are going south to Italy through the Alps.  Lake Como isn't that far in miles, but it will be a bit of a drive.  Verona and Milan are worth a visit.

Will you be exploring Switzerland at all?  I hope so.

Another idea not too far away is Lake Tittisee and the Black Forest in Germany.
