  1. well there are 26 letters of the alphabet and three spaces for letters so you do 26x26x26 and for the digits there is 0-9 so it is 9x9x9. then you add those together so the equation to find the answer is 26x26x26+9x9x9. use a calculator to  figure it out.

  2. I believe the answer is 27 because 3x3=9 and then 9x3=27

  3. I think this is how you figure it out...

you have to figure out how many options you have for each character of the license plate. the first 3 characters each have 26 different possibilities (one possibility for each letter of the alphabet). The other 3 characters each have ten possibilities (numbers 0-9).

Soooo...multiply all the possibilities to find the number of how many plates you can make...

26*26*26=17576 possibilities for the first 3 places

10*10*10=1000 possibilities for the last 3 places

    17576+1000=18576 total possible license plates

NOTE: I think you add , rather than multiply the two products because the first calculation deals with letters, while the second calculation deals with numbers. If all 6 spots were letters, then you would multiply all 6 numbers. But since 3 are numbers and 3 are letters, you do separate calculations and then add the solutions together.

  4. You can have 3 Letters.

There are 26 letters in the alphabet.

For every first letter in the combination, there are 26 possibilities for it to be paired with for the second character and the third one.

    26 x 26 x 26.

    You can have 3 numbers.

    There are 10 one-digit numbers.

For every first number in the combination, there are 10 possibilities for it to get paired with for the second character, and the third one.

    10 x 10 x 10.

Add the two answers together... and I think that should be your answer! =]

  5. You set up a digarm-like thing

so you have 3 spots for letters and 3 spots for digits:

    _ _ _ - _ _ _

You have 26 letters in the Alphabet that can all be used more that once so thats the first part, you have to multiply them together

    26x26x26 - _ _ _

then you have 10 digits that can also all be used three times so then you put those in and multiply it all together like this:

    26x26x26x10x10x10 = 17576000 combos

you should multiply your entier answer together because AAA-123 is different than AAB-123, since there are 17576 letter combos and 1000 number combos, together thier are 17576000 combos all together

    I hope that helps
