i need some help to figure out how this oven works. I moved to this new apt which has an old oven. I dont have the the instruction manual for it. I am trying to bake something, but it has only 1 control k**b which has temp from 260 to 500 and broil settiing. If i want to preheat to 450 F how long should i wait or how i know it reached the temp? it doesnt have a bake setting either. Its Hotpoint oven. I cant find the model number either.Any help?

  1. Turn it to 450 and wait about 10 minutes for it to reach the right temperature.  You should heat the oven so that when the food is ready to go in the oven, the oven is ready.

  2. You can pick up inexpensive (less than $5) oven thermometers in most grocery stores.

  3. Isn't there a light to indicate that the oven is on at least? If so the light should turn off once it reaches the set temperature.

  4. The only way to be sure is to purchase an oven thermometer.

Place it where the item to be baked will set, following the directions. Even people with good ovens should have a thermometer in them.
