Question:

Help w/ collections agency!?

For the last year I have been getting calls from a collections agency (Corporate Collections Inc.) monthly claiming that I owe them $16000US for tools. They say that I owned a company that bought that amount worth of tools.

Hears the rub... I've never owned a business and have never been involved in the purchase of any tools. The collections agency will only tell me that someone claiming to be my former business partner gave them my phone #. Until I told them what my name was, they didn't even know it. All they had was my phone number. The name of the guy they've been talking to is a name I have never heard of.

The collections agency keeps claiming that they are going to sue me if I don't, but they havent yet.

After I tell them that I have nothing to do with it, they tell me that it's their mistake and that I will not hear from them any more. But a month later, they call again with the same threats...

Any suggestions? Any attorneys out there that could chime in?

  1. First of all tell them to send you the statements regarding this issue for proof of this debt.  In addition you want the signed receipts for the merchandise purchased to have your lawyer have the proper investigators analyze these false signatures. (even not having a lawyer, it's good to sound like you do)  If this is fake, that should shut them up.
