Help! what is the best bike light under $50? I almost got ran over!?

I don't have a lot of cash and need the brightest I can get for the buck. I would like to get a combo, but pleae, just name some headlight (people were pulling in front of me but I only have a small reflector on a black bike). help!

Just spend $50 on a good tail-light and follow some rules:

RULES: (from experience in the DARK):

- do not ride on sidewalks (might hit stuff/posts/people in dark)

- do not weave between park cars (drivers can't see you)

- careful on days people put out their trash, i've hit one before!

- avoid riding in the wrong side of the road, follow traffic

I've spent $150 on head lights, $150 on tail-lights; the tail-light is MUCH more effective. Combos for lights usually don't work well...
