Question:

Help! when i try to adjust the volume on my computer on the bottom of the screen on the taskbar...?

its all grey and it wont let me adjust it or anything.. and i cant hear any sounds coming out of the speakers..

btw, i have windows xp..

  1. Check the properties -> control panel-> sounds and audio devices properties.

    Uninstall and reinstall the sound card driver.

    Start, Control Panel, System, under Hardware Tab -> Device Manager, check if any problem device is visible in Sound, video and game controllers


  2. Click on start/control panel/ hardware and sounds/ sounds/adjust volume.

  3. Perhaps the software that you are playing the audio through is on mute or very low volume.

    Also try going to My Computer>Right Click>Properties>Device Manager>Sound Video & Game Controllers>Open this up and Right click on the correct one for Update Driver, you could also right click on the catergorie and select Scan for hardware changes.
