  1. Call and ask your insurance company, had to file a claim few years back, due to a busted pipe in upnorth trailor.Insurance covered everything i believe aside from the busted pipe.or in your case hot water heater as far as floor i would say yes  however that is for an insurance adjusted to decide as to what needs replacing and what is covered. Before calling you could check your coverage/insurance papers but never hurts to call.GL.

  2. It should, I'd suggest you contact a public adjuster before calling your insurance agent.  Insurance agencies have been know to deny a claim that is actually covered by your policy, oh and so you know, they'll still file it as a claim, just what is known as a CWP Claim  (Closed Without Payment).  A public adjuster represents your claim to the insurance company, you can only get what you ask for and if you're not familiar with insurance and construction costs you can get ripped off big time by your own insurance company.  Remember, the guy the insurance company sends out to your house works for them, not you.  You can find public adjusters under public adjusters or insurance adjusters in the yellow pages.

  4. You have to call them and ask. There are alot of different types of insurance and none of us know what your specific insurance covers.

  5. Google up water heater leak damage, or something like 'repairing water damaged floors'. At least that way IF the flooring needs any work, you will be prepared for it.

As far as home owners insurance, it depends on what is covered in your policy, and also what your deductible is. Call your home owners insurance agent and ask him or her what your deductible is (it might be more than the actual cost of repair or replacing any flooring). Also ask them if THEY send someone out to inspect the damage for you, and if there is any charge for that service.

If you have a father, or a man you trust who is handy - ask him to look at the damage and maybe help you figure this all out (such as best way to go - insurance or no insurance, how to repair, if it needs repairing, etc)

  6. yes.  the floor should be replaced at least where it was damaged.  if they're only willing to pay for a portion, it might be worth it to chip in the difference and have it done so that the entire floor is uniform.  best wishes

  7. I do work for insurance companies all the time. The flooring replacements are carried out by Cavalier who do the replacements for most of the insurance companies. In your case you will definately be covered. Phone your insurance company and they will arrange an inspector. Just to note, they will only replace the room(s) with the damage and not the other rooms in your home, even if its all the same flooring throughout. You will also have to pay £50-£100 towards the claim
