Question:

Help with Apple Macbook?

Hello. I'm thinking of buying an Apple Macbook for College and someone told me I should wait until the end of next month. Apparently Apple is updating the Macbook line. Is this true? If yes, when will they be updated? Will the Macbooks out right now get a price cut? Thanks for help.

  1. yes there are new ones on the horizon, in any case wait, then you can get one of the older ones at a better price, might take around 3 months though if you can wait this long

  2. Yes, MacBooks will now get an aluminum skin similar to the Powerbook series. The specs may get updated but the price may still stay the same or go down.

  3. Any rumors about Apple releasing a new line of anything are generally pure speculation. Nobody ever knows for sure when they're going to put out new versions of anything they sell, but generally new Macs come out between July and December (for either their back-to-school sale or Christmas). In any case, there's not much more they can do to it beyond small performance tweaks, so don't worry about it. Even if a new model comes out, there won't be any huge new features that'll make you wish you had waited.

Edit: Actually it turns out that they might be planning on redesigning the Macbook case, so it'll look more like the Macbook Air, with the black keyboard and aluminum casing. They also might be adding the same multi-touch trackpad as they used in the Macbook Air. As I said before, though, nothing is official yet and so far it's all speculation.
