Well it all started when i was fiddling with the System BIOS on my computer. iwas changing the boot order and when i was done the screen turned black and would not stop beeping. it wouldnt shut down i had to resort to ripping the battery out. after that, it took like 2 min to boot up when originally it took not even 30 sec. After that, i had installed some dumb boot skin that screwed up my BIOS and i couldnt get Windows to start. after i got rid of that, it took even longer to boot! can i get my computer to boot up like it used to? It takes forever just to get to the login screen.

  1. the BIOS simply loads the master boot record of the selected device, finding the first device with an MBR in order from the list. It is not likely that this has slowed things down. It is likely that you have screwed your MBR, which will require undoing those changes and maybe reinstating the MBR.

  3. in your bios there should be an option to restore everything to default values.  execute that, then make any necessary changes.

In the future don't rip your battery out, press and hold the power button to turn off the power.

  4. Have you tried resetting the BIOS to the defaults?  That's the first thing you should try.  If that doesn't work you might need to do a hard reset by finding your CMOS battery and removing it for a few minutes to let the BIOS settings do a true restore.  If it's a laptop, you might have trouble getting to it, but in a desktop it should be relatively simple.

The only other option you have is to try to find an updated BIOS version for your motherboard and install that.
