Question:

Help with Bipolar Disorder?

Okay. First off, I know I should be going somewhere better than yahoo answers with this problem but I'm just doing this as a "just wondering" kind of thing..

Anyways. I am fifteen. Ever since I have been about 13, I have had serious mood swings. I go from extremely euphoric, to not wanting to even look at anyone in a matter of minutes (that's one of the reasons I haven't gotten checked out yet. all the websites i've read say mood swings last weeks or months, not hours or days.) I wouldn't exactly call my bad stages severe depression, but its pretty close.

I just wanted to know some things like do you have bipolar disorder? When did you get diagnosed with it? Is 15 too young to have it, and I'm just crazy? Please help.

Another reason I haven't gotten it checked out is because it seems to usually happen from the energy of other people. Like, if I'm around someone happy then I'll get into an extreme euphoric mood. But if I'm around someone who I can feel the slightest bit of unhappiness, I can't even talk to anyone for the rest of the day I'm in such a bad mood.

Please help. Thanks :)

  1. You're just way empathetic.  Don't worry about it.  As you get older it will lessen.

  2. Yes, in my opinion 15 is way too young for a diagnosis, and you're not crazy. This is a clear case of teenage hormones. If you are still this way at 20, maybe get checked out. Or if it gets a lot worse, and you are thinking of suicide, or are completely out of control, then talk to your parents and a doctor. For your own information Google Bipolar symptoms so that you can see what it is really like. Btw I am Bipolar and was diagnosed at 20.
