Help with California DMV fees?

I currently live in CA, and I have a 1995 Ford Ranger. It is my boyfriends truck, and he hasn't registered it since 03, in New Jersey. We moved the truck on a trailer recently from NJ to CA. I want to register it in my name in CA, but since it hasn't been registered since 03, do I still have to pay the back registration fees since it was last registered in NJ?

  1. Yes. You will need to pay all the late fees, penalties, and registration fees for the past 5 years to register this truck.

  2. Below is the California DMV Vehicle Registration Fee Calculator.  I would seriously doubt you would have to pay back registration from another state.  I know in Texas if there is a lapse in registration, you only need sign a form stating that the car has not been driven during that period to have the extra registration fees waved.

  3. Probably so. Call the DMV and ask them. They will know :P

    Good luck!
