Question:

Help with Cat Spraying in House?

I have a cat who is spraying in the corner of our living room. She is fixed and I have tried every little trick suggested online to fix this problem. The only three things I haven't tried are the Feliway, putting her food where she sprays (I've tried putting the litter box there, she just sprays around it) and putting her on anti-depressants. Do any of these work?? I'm at my wits end. Can you suggest anything that might have not been suggested online? She's been to the vet who says it's behavorial spraying. I have three litter boxes which are kept immaculate. She uses all three of them, so it's not that. And I scrub the area to death with an enzyme cleaner so I'm pretty sure she can't smell it afterwards (although I know they have a keen sense of smell). So any serious suggestions??

  1. Hi there... anti-depressants for inappropriate elimination behaviours have been successful with cats.  However some may be more effective than others so you may need to experiment with which works best.  Please do keep in mind that anti-depressants take a bit of time (usually several weeks...up to 6 weeks) to notice any results.  Here's a list of some of the medications used to help with behavioural elimination disorders: http://www.newmanveterinary.com/feline.h...
