Help with Chest Freezer?

I have a small Iceline Chest Freezer which i bought second hand; it's in really good condition but i don't have the manual for it. They no longer make these type of freezers and can't download one because of that. It appears to be working well but at the bottom, front of it there's a box which says Signal and a small red light is flickering..

Does anyone know if this is normal as i'm a bit nervous of putting food in it until i find out... HELP.....

  1. Check your temperature in the freezer,it should be at  4-9 degrees Fahrenheit. That is normal temps for freezer. Also make note of run times. If run times measured over an hour are in the range of 10-12 minutes an hour it is not to far out of range. However keep in mind that run times are affected by the outside ambient temperature, how many times accessed, for how long left open. These will greatly affect run times. Don't know about the light other than it may indicate a signal present. If run times and temperature seem normal(within range) it should be safe to use. If temps and run time are not normal it may have a bad door seal or low on refrigerant.

  2. I cannot answer your Q apart from suggesing that you get a freezer thermometer and check the temp for  aday or two.

    and see how it goes.

  3. Try freezing some water if it freezes and stays frozen it should be OK

  4. some of the older freezers had a light on the front to indicate that it had power to it,it wasn't anything to do with temperature or cooling. The little lights were neon when they got old they start to flicker.I wouldn't worry about it.The suggestion about a thermometer is a good one.
