Question:

Help with College Course Load ^.^?

I'm preparing on signing up for my fall 2008 classes and I needed some opinions. I currently attend Florida State University and I am in the Interior Desing program. (although I am transferring to UF next year for Architecture). Anyway, I want to get my business minor completed before I go to UF, which is like 18 credit hours. My original plan was to take 6 courses this semester and 6 next semester, which would be 3 interior design classes and 3 business classes in the fall and then 4 interior design classes and 2 business classes in the spring. I would take my remaining business courses in the summer along with precalc and physics.

Here's the dilemma, I am a bit anal about my grades, and I can't get any less than an A ^.^ (which I haven't so far). But I'm worried that my course load for the fall may be too heavy, so I was wondering if perhaps I should tone is down to 3 design classes (they are required) and 2 business courses. So 15 hours instead of 18.

If you know any of these classes, these are the ones I would take:

IND4601 - Social/Psychological Aspects of Design (I think this will be easy)

IND3217 - Studio 1

IND2300 - Graphics 1

ECO2013 - Macroecomonics (worried about this but it's required for business minor)

BUL3310 - Legal and Ethics of Enviornment in Business (seems easy)

MAN3025 - Consepts of Management

Thanks for all of your help! ^.^

  1. You didn't say if you worked or not, but I've done 18 credit hours at USF and worked 30 hours a week. It is possible if you want to dedicate the time to it. That's only for you to decide though.

  2. The school you plan on graduating from will be the one who actually determines if you have all the classes for a minor or major.  Since your plan is to transfer, you should confirm in UF's catalog that these are the courses you need for a business minor.

Looking at your schedule, I can't help but think most of the classes you are planning on enrolling in won't count towards anything.  Most colleges are okay with transferring freshman and sophomore classes, like Algebra, Freshman Comp, History and government classes, but when you get into highly specialized (Studio) and upper division classes (those starting with 3's and 4's) they have a tendency to make you take those classes from THEIR school.  Also, if you have quite a few hours behind you, be aware all schools have a minimum number of upper division hours you have to take from them to get your degree.

    Hope this helps.

  3. I think you should lighten your load. Macroeconomics is a little more difficult. It you need an A this semester, I'd drop that one.

    Management shouldn't be too hard.

  4. Well if anything wait to take Macroecomonics, the other ones seem like they wont be that bad.  You dont want to overload, especially if you plan on getting only A's.
