Help with Computer Folder Layout

Question

hi. i need some help. i am using Windows xp. when i go to my documents or computer there use to be a blue bit on the left hand side with different options like rename this file, move this file, email this file and so on. but this bit has disappeared. can someone please tell me how to get this bit back?

Click the button on the toolbar called Folders.

Click... 'Folders'... tab above

Try doing the following:

>> Click on Start and then right click on the My Computer icon and select Properties, or else just press Win key+Pause/Break key.

>> In the System Properties window you just opened, go to Advanced.

>> Then under the Performance section, click on Settings.

>> Under the Visual Effects tab, you will see a long list of visual effects.

>> Look for, 'Use common tasks in folders'.

>> It must be 3rd last in the list.

>> Place a tick mark in the box in front of it.

>> Check out the other Visual Effects if you like and tick them if you want them.
